Always Say Yes

Always say yes to the present moment.
~ Eckhart Tolle

All pain, fear, and sadness come from non-acceptance of the present moment.

Tolle goes on to further challenge us: “What could be more futile, more insane, than to create inner resistance to something that already is?”

This doesn’t mean that we necessarily like what has happened. But the only way we can have any emotion about anything is if we’ve judged it. First we judge, then we experience the emotion based on our judgment.

As Eckhart Tolle points out from his amazingly insightful Power of Now book, the present moment just is. It’s when we don’t accept the is-ness of the moment that we get into trouble. Because then we are essentially denying what is and instead insisting that it be something else.

Saying “yes” to the present moment aligns us with the mind of peace. And then we will respond in whatever way would be most helpful – with no judgment and with no loss of peace.
