Attack Thoughts
It seems so counter-intuitive. We’re taught to believe that attack comes from the “outside”. Unfriendly or callous people. Micro-organisms and toxins. Unhealthy or harsh environments. The world around us is a dangerous place, and we need to proactively defend ourselves against such nefarious elements.
But is that true?
This very powerful passage from A Course in Miracles teaches us that it all starts with our thoughts:
Nothing except your thoughts can attack you. Nothing except your thoughts can make you think you are vulnerable. And nothing except your thoughts can prove to you this is not so.
Of course, we do all the normal things that bodies believe they need to do to “protect” themselves. But along the way, let’s try to return to our mind and ask ourselves if we’re choosing thoughts of defense/attack or thoughts of love. The latter leads to much greater joy.
