Feeling Inferior

No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.
~ Eleanor Roosevelt

If there’s one phrase I used for justification more than any other throughout my life, it would be “makes me,” or its past participle form, made me.

What you just said makes me so angry.

She made me so sad.

This situation makes me happy.

Sure, circumstances and people impact our lives. But we still get to choose our emotional reaction to them.

Particularly when it comes to feelings of worth and value, no one can make us feel a certain way.

Unless we allow them to.

When other people put us down, it says far more about them than it does about us. In fact, no one can be anything other than loving unless they’ve partnered with their ego.

And when we “allow” other people to “take away” our peace – it simply means we’ve chosen not to be at peace. And that we’ve also partnered with our ego.

In such situations, we can gently remind ourselves that we are absolutely perfect for where we are on our journey. And if another person wants to challenge that certainty, it’s their ego crying out for attention. But certainly no reflection on us.

Be gentle and see your remarkable worthiness.
