Greatest Weapon Against Stress

I was convinced that my thoughts “just happened” – the natural consequence of what was going on in my world. And stress, in particular, resulted from impending deadlines, overdue tasks, tense relationships, and so many other aspects of daily life.

Recognizing that every thought we have is completely under our control is incredibly liberating and empowering. By observing our thoughts, we can see exactly which emotions we’re choosing and begin the process of taking back control.

When we are feeling stressed, anxious, or unhappy – we can use those emotions to lead us back to our thoughts. From there, in the sage words of William James, we can choose different thoughts and experience completely different emotions.
