Letting Go of Labels
When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be.
Each of us has a calling card. It often is pulled out when we’re asked to describe ourselves – perhaps at a party, networking event, or any such activity.
We might lead with our business title. Or perhaps our familial role. Maybe even sprinkle in a few notable accomplishments.
But a title isn’t who we are. It’s a shabby substitute of a label that we’ve attached to our identity.
When we care how others react to our calling card, then we know we’re not living to our highest ideal.
By letting go of the label, we then, in the words of Lao Tzu, become what we might be.
