No Longer Happy
We are no longer happy so soon as we wish to be happier.
When we seek for something, we imply we don’t have it. I think about all the times I believed something would make me happy – whether that was a certain possession, monetary amount, or a particular change in a relationship. And then if I got what I wanted, it inevitably turned out that the resulting “happiness” didn’t last very long.
A Course in Miracles calls it the ego’s maxim – “seek but do not find”. And thus we continually search for what we believe will make us happy, never looking in the one – and only – place where we can truly find it. Within our mind, specifically the right-mind of presence.
