The Real World

The wishes of the ego gave rise to the world you see.
~ A Course in Miracles

Our experiences as a body interacting in the world convince us this is reality. Our pains and joys and sorrows and reliefs are the result of what has transpired and what we suspect may yet occur.

But what if we have it all wrong?

What if reality has nothing to do with what the world and our body’s senses report?

Every non-dualistic thought system teaches that the world is an illusion. A dream. Seemingly real, as our nighttime dreams often are, but illusory nonetheless.

In A Course in Miracles we read, “The wishes of the ego gave rise to the world you see.” Elsewhere, “The world you see has nothing to do with reality. It is of your own making, and it does not exist.”

But while we are in the dream, believing this is real, we can learn how to shift our experiences from sadness to happiness, from lack to abundance. We do that by recognizing that our thoughts determine the world we see. And as we shift our allegiance from the ego mind to the mind of universal inspiration, a world of joyful bliss opens up.
